Dixie Buick/GMC was originally built at this location in 1992 and was the first project designed by Christopher J. Lee Architects. Twenty years later, we were again selected to design the planned renovations required by the General Motors Buick Division to create a new image which conforms to a national branding campaign for the dealership. The renovation required the removal of selected portions of the existing building and applying distinctive black and white metal panels on the exterior façade, and replacing all of the interior materials and finishes in all “customer contact areas” with new flooring, ceilings, energy-efficient LED lighting, cabinets, furnishings and interior finishes consistent with the new Buick nationwide branded image.

Completed in 1992 this project was the first project designed and developed by Christopher J. Lee Architects. The project accommodated special considerations associated with automobile sales and services. Within this 4-building facility, the main sales building featured a 2-story showroom overlooked by second floor administrative support areas. Additional buildings housed separate service & repair facilities, body shop, and used vehicle sales functions. Through the use of simple massing and creative detailing, this facility has maintained its clean appearance and functional efficiency over the years. Utilizing primarily painted stucco on concrete block for the showroom sales building along with pre-engineered metal buildings for the service and repair buildings, these facilities have required little maintenance efforts on the exteriors to the Owner’s benefit.
